The central city of Hue calls for investment in 30 projects from now to 2020. |
Specifically, these are mainly projects of infrastructure investment, trade, tourism development, with a total capital of about VND70 trillion. Notably, there are some key projects with large-scale investment, especially in the tourism sector, for example, developing coastal resorts, hotels, golf courses, Chan May-Lang Co economic zone, An Van Duong urban area, etc.
Reportedly, Hue welcomed 1.7 million visitors during the first half of this year. In spite of being home to a huge variety of famous heritage sites, the central city has faced challenges in boosting tourism.
At the roundtable, Nguyen Van Tuan - Head of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism said: "Accommodation and entertainment services in Hue are more limited and less attractive than in Da Nang. Many visitors go to Hue to explore its beauty but stay the night in Da Nang."
Chairman of BIDV Bank Tran Bac Ha said Hue was obviously weaker than Da Nang or Nha Trang in the tourism competition. The ancient capital is lacking big projects and investors to lead the market. It also has fewer 5-star hotels than Da Nang.
Therefore, Hue needs to develop more tourism products, services as well as attract more investors to property projects.
Some reputable property developers including Vingroup, Bitexco Group and Sungroup said they were considering the idea of investing in Hue. BIDV also promised to spend $545.5 million - 681.8 million to support development projects in the next five years.
